Apple has posted a bag of updates for Mac and Windows users alike, adding more security, reliability and compatibility. The latest version of iTunes (8.2) adds support for iPhone or iPod touch running iPhone 3.0, a clear indication that Apple is gearing up to release a full-fledged 3.0 Software Update for iPhone and iPod touch users.

Originally seeded to select Apple developers in April, iTunes 8.2 was confirmed to check that the user was a registered developer before allowing him or her to update an iPhone to OS 3.0. Macrumors picked up the story, adding that iTunes 8.2 carried Blue-ray references to Gracenote that suggested upcoming Blu-ray support.
